Prepare & Take Care
If you wanna know how to prepare for your service and how to maintain your results, you've found the place!
Before Your Wax
For the most part, you can just show up and let me do the work. Here's what you need to know before you arrive.
Before Your Wax
In order to wax it, your hair must be at least 1/4 of an inch long. That being said, longer is always better for your first appointment. Stop shaving 3 weeks before your appointment.
Start exfoliating before your appointment to remove dead skin and allow hair to stand up. This will guarantee you a better result and make it easier to remove any hair. Exfoliate 2-3 x a week and gently 24 hours before your appointment.
There is a short list of activities you must avoid for 24 hours after your appointment so make sure you're not coming in the morning of a beach day.
It's not always possible to have a shower right before your appointment but keeping your skin clean is a must. Bacteria on the skin can interfere with your results.
It's important that you don't wax while taking acne medications, retinols and any medication that makes you sensitive to the sun. If you're unsure, always ask!
You may have heard some people use numbing creams before their wax. The truth is, it's very hard to get it under the hair enough to work. More importantly, it can make your skin a gummy texture which is unsafe for waxing. I promise you don't need it.
You want to avoid any friction on the skin so dress as comfy as you can. Avoid tight or scratchy materials like lace, denim and leather.
No problem. You'll just need a clean tampon for your appointment.
After Your Wax
This right here is the most important.
For 24 Hours
As someone who will swim in any body of water, just trust me and avoid dirty water the day of your wax.
Hottubs are full of bacteria and hot water is too much for your freshly waxed skin.
No direct sun - outside or in the tanning bed
Sweat is a no-no right now.
Again, we're avoiding friction, bacteria and heat.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but keep the showers warm and leave the hot showers for another day.
For the Next 4 Weeks
Your hair is going to be growing back in weaker and thinner than ever before. It's not strong enough to push through a layer of dead skin. Exfoliate 2-3 times a week to avoid ingrowns and maintain your results.
Keeping your skin and hair hydrated is extremely important. To hydrate, treat & prevent ingrowns and lighten dark spots, pick up a Bushbalm oil at your appointment.
